The Perfect CBD Bath Recipe
Soak it all in, here are our tips to the perfect bath
Himalayan Salt, CBD & the science behind a bath that makes you feel so good.
The benefits of a warm bath are more than purely psychological. Powered up with mineral-rich salt and CBD, it’s one of the tools in your “wellness toolbox” that can have a serious impact on the way you feel.
Recipe For The Perfect Bath
You should aim about 92 degrees for your bath water. Test the water with your wrist (which is more sensitive than your hands) and it should feel warm to the touch but not scalding. By submersing yourself in warm water, you are raising your core body temperature, which has been shown over time to induce the acute inflammatory responses needed to reduce chronic low-grade inflammation in the long term. This is important because our current lifestyles support chronic low-level inflammation in our day-to-day.
The 'No Soak' Zone
What you’re putting in your bath also matters! Consider that whatever ingredients you are soaking in are being absorbed directly through your body’s largest most porous organ - your skin. It’s essential that you take a very close look at all the ingredients you add to your tub, since you’ll be basically mainlining them into your body.
Things that DO NOT belong in your soak zone:
- Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate: (anything that “fizz”es that will dry your skin
- Fragrance: (ie. Parfume) that might be touted as essential oils…but is really not
- Parabens
- Anti-caking agents: (ie. Talc)
- Phthalates: Linked to cancer, neurological issues, fertility, and endocrine problems
- Benzene derivatives: Human carcinogen, hormone disruption, reduced immune response
- Artificial Dyes: Synthetic colors like D&C Red 33,
- Glitter: (this is a micro plastic that gets washed into our waterways and into the ocean. More of an environmental concern but hey, we’re all one planet right)
Let's Get Salty
Salt is essential to human life. Your body needs sodium to perform essential body functions like:
- contracting and relaxing muscles
- maintaining proper fluid balance and preventing dehydration
- sending nervous system impulses
- preventing low blood pressure
Himalayan Salt contains 98% sodium chloride, and 2% of essential trace minerals to make it a perfect, natural element of a good soak. According to Healthline, “Himalayan salt is a type of sea salt mined in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains, primarily in Pakistan. Ancient oceans deposited these salts 250 million years ago when the Himalaya mountains were being formed. Because the salt beds were covered by lava, ice, and snow for millions of years, Himalayan salt is free of many modern-day pollutants.
If you have very sensitive skin or skin troubles like psoriasis or eczema, adding Himalayan Salt to your bath during a flare-up reduces the “stinging” of your water and helps reduce the skin irritation.
More Minerals, Please!
Magnesium
This mineral is one of your best friends. A body that is well balanced in magnum allows your body to function at it’s highest level, which includes regulating your nervous system, relaxing your muscles, and at a cellular level magnesium aids in converting food to energy. It’s truly a life-force. On the shelf you’ll see big bags of Epsom salts which is essentially magnesium sulfate. We add magnesium to our Plain Jane mineral soaks, and find that it’s an essential player in keeping inflammation at bay and your body feeling great.
CBD
We combine our CBD with our unscented, fractionated coconut oil and “cure” Plain Jane mineral soak in glass. The oils will help keep your skin from drying out, and the warmth of your water will help your body absorb the benefits of the CBD through your skin faster.
- The Plain Jane Bath Soak for Sensitive Skin
- One Cup Pink Himalayan Salt
- One Cup Epsom Salts
- 1 oz. Naked CBD Body Oil
